I found myself wishing I’d put proper cutlery, plate, glass and, yes, a table napkin in the car for on the move moments this week. A mini picnic kit just for me. Just in case. In the planning now! Also huge fan of Erborian CC mini tubes of smoothing out ness. Happy hols for your son.

No one wants the old fashioned gold rimmed porcelain plates of days when people treated meals with respect, and they don’t bother with silver plate either. So I keep both for picnics — all affordably from a thrift store. Amazing!

Yes agree on both! Is it a special mascara?

L'Oreal Paris Paradise - another one that got a lot of praise when it launched a few months ago - cheap and effective!

The Biscoff ice creams are good too - like Magnums with little biscuity layer. The whole box has mysteriously disappeared in the last few days…

I love the Eborian cream and was only yesterday plying my mother with an M&S mixologist cocktail and telling her she must try the spicy margarita. (Mum: “I think I’ll buy them all and work my way through them.” Me: “Not all at once, I hope…”)

And THANK YOU for the mention!

Xx

That yellow really pings!

Years ago, I worked in a basement in the library and our team were asked what colour we wanted the room painted. We chose something similar - a lovely sunshine yellow, and it really lifted the spirits and made the room more welcoming! I think it'd been a drap, institutional grey before.

Love this. I read years ago that yellow makes you think, so it’s the perfect colour for work!

Oh, fantastic! I didn't know that. We were a very happy team down in our cheerful yellow basement!

I can’t wear the Eborian; it looks gorgeous when I put it on but it separates like mad on my chin and nose. Typical. It’s really interesting, the whole Brooke Shields issue, isn’t it? Looking at that picture of her, above, you realise just how preternaturally beautiful she was, and still is. I think those of us mortals on the standard bell curve think how wonderful life must be as a beauty. Clearly it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

No, it’s not… and beautiful people don’t love the compliment because they often feel their looks are just a byproduct of their existence, so better to be appreciated for wit and intelligence…

Lovely entry, Jessica. Giggled at "one martini" bit. I do the cranberry with the tequila and triple sec for a Cosmo, Sex and the City vibe.

I so remember those days far in my past when the first week of summer break was upon us and the freedom it brought to explore, not have to worry about make the grade, and reading books of my choosing. I'm retired and it feels somewhat the same only with adult responsibilities.

I will try to source the Cadbury Biscoff from side of the pond. My daughter always hoards the little packages of Lotus Biscoff when we are flying with Delta. I have them my tea or Diet Coke many mornings.

I read Brook Shield's latest book, Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old and like the documentary Pretty Baby, she is not bitter about her life in the spotlight, but brave on so many fronts. The dialogue should be ongoing for us all.

Sitting the shade at a cricket match so rather romantic! Much better than me sweating buckets just to retrieve the mail in our super-hot summer!

Stay cool!

Your skin looks beautiful!! I also love the nail color. Know just what you mean by the DIY frenzy after a trip to somewhere divine - for me, even just a house tour in upstate NY (where I live). Maybe it's my computer, but when I clicked on the link to the face cream it sent me to the nail polish. (Nail polish link went correctly.) The eye cream link worked for me, and thank you for that - I need it after two years of ridiculously little sleep. Thanks for the post, I will be cheered thinking about it all day. Be well and happy.

Thank you Marian! I very much like the idea that I kept you cheered for a day. Don't know what happened there with the link but should be fixed now - thanks for letting me know. x

Lots of fun reading this. I love “one martini, two martini, three martini, floor.)”!! I’ll let you know our summer bits when we actually get a summer here, but meanwhile I am enjoying the sea mist this morning 🤪
